Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide?
We are a wholesale criminal records research company.  Over 90% of our report output compromises of county level criminal records searches. We do statewide and federal criminal searches as well.  We also provide MVR’s (driver History).

In what areas do you search criminal records?
We search all counties nationwide. We also do statewide searches for many states, as well as all Federal Districts nationwide.

Do I need to have specific forms filled out for different searches?
We do not need any special forms for most criminal searches and most MVRs. We do need a signed release for some statewide Criminal Searches, and some states require a signed release for MVR records (The states that require releases are outlined in our price sheets).

Do you have any hidden charges or fees?
No. We have no sign-up fees, membership fees, or any other hidden charges.

Do you use private databases for your searches?

No, we do not.  All county wide criminal searches are searched using the court’s filing system.  Most counties are now computerized; however there are still many counties for which our researchers must search books and other physical filing systems.  Statewide searches are performed using widely recognized state repositories – never private databases.  All searches are conducted with a strict adherence to the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other laws.

Do you cover both felony and misdemeanor charges?

We do cover all felony and misdemeanors charges, as well as criminal traffic charges such as DUI and driving while license suspended.  However, there are a few states in which we only do the upper courts (felonies only), such as Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, as clearly outlined in our price list.

What quality control systems do you have in place to insure accuracy?

Our quality controls start at the hiring process and continue throughout a record researcher’s career with Affirm.   We extensively train and supervise all of our personnel.  On a regular basis we “salt” the work given to our researchers with known information to test them, not only for new researchers, but on an ongoing basis.   This is an invaluable tool in evaluating and re-evaluating our staff.

How long can we expect to wait to receive results back?

Our turnaround times for criminal searches breaks down as follows: 56% are returned within 24 hours, 31% are returned between 24 and 48 hours.  The remaining 13% are returned after 48 hours.  The main reasons for delays are clerk searches, (Courts for which our researchers must submit searches to the court personnel to do.) and searches that require file copies to be ordered.  Courts are typically very understaffed.  Any time court clerks get involved the turnaround time can be effected.

What is your cut-off time for criminal searches?

We really don’t have a cut-off time.  We don’t have a certain time by which we must receive requests in order to start them, because we submit search requests to our researchers many times per day.

Is there anything that I can do to insure a fast turnaround time?

Most of our researchers leave their office by 9:00 am daily.  The sooner that you get your requests to us, the more likely it will be searched that day.

Do we have to use your website to order searches from you?

Absolutely not.  We can also receive requests via email or fax.  We are happy to accommodate you which ever method of ordering you prefer.

Is there an advantage to ordering searches through your website?

Turnaround time can be decreased slightly by ordering from our website.  When searches are ordered at our website, the searches go directly into our system as you ordered them, and right out to our researchers.  Also, when orders are completed in our system they go right to our website.  The reason that we say that turnaround time is decreased only slightly for website users is that we send results to our clients and requests to our researchers many times per day, ensuring quick turnaround time for our email and fax clients as well.

How are your results sent back to us?

Your choice.  We can e-mail or fax results to you, or place the results on our website for you to retrieve.  We will send you a computer generated results report.  On the report will be the name, D.O.B., and SSN of the party searched, the Jurisdiction searched, any reference number you may have, as well as the result of the search.

Do you offer any kind of volume discounts?

Yes.  We can offer a discount for individual counties or states where your volume of searches is high.  We can also offer an overall discount for companies whose overall volume is high.  This is negotiated on a case by case basis.
